Youve heard of a pub choir strangers in a room, learning a song together, and suddenly finding themselves in harmony.
This is almost that... but more.
At 2pm on Sunday 28 September, The Village Well will fill with voices. No auditions, no rehearsals, no pressure. Just 40 minutes of guided singing where strangers become a choir, and one song becomes a memory youll carry long after the day ends.
Led by artist Kendall Bryant, whose background as a theatre director has seen her lead choirs, concerts, and shows across Australia and internationally, this Almost a Pub Choir will be more than a singalong. Its a chance to experience what happens when voices, artistry, and community collide.
Almost a Pub Choir is one highlight of The Table: Village Market Gathering a unique participatory artwork unfolding on Sunday 28 Sept at The Village Well. Alongside the once-only ritual of Setting The First Table at 12:30pm, the afternoon will be alive with art-making, stalls, food, live music, and community connection.

Kendall Bryant is a multidisciplinary artist and the founder of Art For Peoples Sake. Over the past 25+ years, her work has taken her to many corners of the world, spanning grassroots community projects through to collaborations with global organisations such as the United Nations and Medecins Sans Frontieres. Along the way, she has partnered with a wide range of artists from musicians and dancers to writers, visual artists, and performers weaving together disciplines and perspectives to create work that is participatory, inclusive, and alive.
Her experience includes producing and directing a broad spectrum of productions and events from musical theatre to classic, contemporary, and experimental works, to exploratory and devised theatre, outreach and development projects, music concerts, and large-scale stadium events. Each has deepened her love of storytelling and her respect for the power of collective creativity.
Kendalls work has brought her into collaboration with a wide variety of people from trauma survivors, refugees, and women in crisis, to community choirs, dancers, and individuals discovering their creative voice for the first time. This breadth of experience has shaped her leadership style: one grounded in creativity, humour, and a deep respect for the stories each person carries.
She is known for creating spaces where people of all walks of life can take risks, find connection, and express themselves in ways they didnt think possible. In her workshops, Kendall guides with warmth and playfulness, while holding space for the depth and honesty that participants bring through their interpretations.
