Odeon Richmond proudly presents a truly unique evening:  Bruce "Cub" Callaway with special guest Penny Ikinger.

Bruce has had a significant influence on Australia's independent music scene for 40 years.  Tonight, he shares never before heard stories and recorded live material traversing his journey.  He will also show never before seen images from his private archive of his journey showcasing his contribution to all of the artists with whom he has played, produced and recorded.

Bruce will play two sets of tunes demonstrating his legacy.  He will be joined by his long time friend and special guest, Penny Ikinger, fuzz queen, sonic chanteuse and primal mistress of rock who defies easy comparison and definition.  Penny will interview Bruce and our guests are also invited to participate in the Q & A.  The cherry on top tonight will be Bruce and Penny duetting on some much loved Australian anthems.

BRUCE "CUB CALLAWAY
Bruce Cub Callaway is a songwriter, singer, guitarist and producer whose influence on Australian independent music over the last 40 years is significant. 

Callaway emerged in Brisbane in the late 70s in The X-Men.  He moved to Sydney where he joined The Saints upon their return from England.  After touring with The Saints, he started the New Christs with Rob Younger then formed his own band playing original songs.

Callaway moved to the studio, producing internationally acclaimed albums for Ed Kuepper, The Triffids, Louis Tillet and Damien Lovelock.  He also played in Damien Lovelocks Wigworld band.

In 2013, he released Silver & Gold which features appearances by many of his former colleagues including John Hoey (Died Pretty), Warwick Gilbert (Radio Birdman), Paul Larsen (Celibate Rifles), Clyde Bramley (Hoodoo Gurus) and Julie Mostyn (Flaming Hands).

In 2014, Callaway formed The Revolutionnaires that consisted of Richard Ploog (The Church), John Hoey, Phil Hall (Sardine v, The Drop Bears, Lime Spiders).
In 2016, Andrew Nunns (Underground Lovers, AutoHaze) joined The Revolutionnaires on drums and the band recorded Two Hundred Years, an album that features special guests Rick Springfield and Jack Howard.

Callaway remains active in the music scene moving to Sydney where he formed the Hovering Spooks with Phil Hall (Lime Spiders), Richard Burgman (Sunnyboys) and Paul Larsen (New Christs, Celibate Rifles). He also plays in an updated version of the Revolutionnaires with John Hoey (Died Pretty), Jeffrey Wegener (Laughing Clowns, Ed Kuepper) and Michael Armiger (Paul Kelly).

Currently, Callaway has just joined Fuck The Neighbours, a tribute band to the Australian punk scene of the late 1970s.

PENNY IKINGER
Penny Ikinger is a renowned rock ace hailing from Australia. Rarely seen without her iconic guitar, the Pennycaster, and with an impressive career spanning several decades, Penny has been a formidable force in the music industry. Penny has had a truly captivating effect amongst her fans and contemporaries alike, and she returns more entrancing than ever with her new album Travels and Travails.

Penny was a pioneering female electric guitarist in Australia. She began her musical journey as a guitarist in Wet Taxis, alongside Louis Tillett. Since then, she has collaborated with an eclectic range of musicians in Australia, including the likes of Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman), Kim Salmon, Sacred Cowboys, Charlie Owen, Dave Graney, Clare Moore, and overseas with Dimi Dero (France), Vinz Guilluy (France), Masami Kawaguchi (Japan) and Donovans Brain (USA). She was also handpicked for two Australian tours with American guitar legend Adrian Belew.
