Headlining this Melbourne event (the first of 3 in the city) are American cinematic rock icons Caspian, returning to Australia for the first time in over a decade.

The evening kicks off at 5pm and showcases a dynamic lineup from the Birds Robe family. Highlights include the long-awaited return from Europe of folk-meets-black metal locals Suldusk, Sydney post-rock legends Meniscus & Solkyri, the reunion of influential math-prog outfit Squat Club, and Melbourne post-metal outfit Treebeard, touring their latest release Snowman.

The show will also feature artist signings, a competitive table tennis tournament, merch giveaways & more.

The celebration coincides with the release of the Birds Robe documentary series, which premiered its first episode in July and sees new episodes drop fortnightly through toDecember.

Birds Robe has long been a launchpad for some of Australias most acclaimed post-rock and progressive artists, including sleepmakeswaves, We Lost The Sea, Closure in Moscow, Toehider, Meniscus, The Crooked Fiddle Band, Troldhaugen, and Solkyri, among others.

Across its 15-year journey, the label has promoted more than 1,500 live shows and released over 200 records, including five ARIA-nominated albums and seven #1 releases on the Australian Independent Charts. Its catalogue has collectively amassed over 50 million streams, underscoring the labels impact both locally and internationally.

Director Mike Solo says:

Ten years ago, on Saturday 5 December in 2015, a bunch of bands playing post-rock, prog, metal and alternative rock got together at Manning Bar in Sydney, Australia to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Birds Robe Records.  It was awesome.

Since then, weve crossed the globe many more times, survived a global pandemic and come out the other side with even more talent to showcase from our little niche.  So please join us to relive the memories, create new ones & celebrate an epic ride of prog, post rock, and otherwise innovative music with our friends & family.

If youve never had the chance to see some of these bands, we hope our efforts to bring them all together in the one place make for a worthy day/night of entertainment.

Enjoy!
