Inspired by the lyrical mind of Lizzy McAlpine and the heart-warmth of the Christian music genre, Chelcs music reflects the outpour of the movements of life. Lush vocal melodies meet atmospheric instrumentation in pursuit of warmness and honesty. The night celebrates Chelcs debut single, rainy days (my muse), which explores the loss of joy and inspiration from her viewpoint as an artist. In a joyful night of vibrant pop/indie tracks, Chelc & Company promises a delightful mix of energetic arrangements and stirring narratives that might hit you a little close to home.
Supported by Koi: a local music group featuring guitarist Bryn Martin, percussionist Daniel Chong and vocalist Mikaela King, whose music is influenced by the natural environment, performing pieces that are soulful and pure. Not bound to a genre, the group focusses on building a space for escapism, playing pieces that aim to comfort listeners through nostalgia and tranquility. Performances cover the styles of indie-alternative, jazz and neo-soul, featuring original work and stripped back covers. Their inspiration comes from artists such as Joy Crookes, Big Thief, Thom Yorke and Nai Palm.
Followed by Shehan: a Sri Lankan Alternative/R&B singer and multi-instrumentalist in love with cultivating familiar, nostalgic yet emotional atmospheres with his meaningful and personal stories which he tells throughout his mellow and powerful lyrics. Drawing influences from the likes of Jeff Bernat, Allen Stone, John Mayer and FINNEAS, Shehans upbeat/mellow music showcases the ups and downs of what its like to be a hopeless romantic who is just another player in a game of love.
