Melbournes Convenience Store have always made music that walks the tightrope between confession and cinema, and on their debut album Tabis, they push that balance to its most ambitious and affecting extremes.

Written and recorded DIY in their basement studio, Tabis is a record about illusions: the stories we tell ourselves to survive, the doublespeak of growing up, and the disorienting sense that nothing in life ever fully resolves. Named after the Japanese split-toe shoe that conceals five toes within the illusion of two, Tabis are steeped in multiplicity. Like the shoe itself, these songs walk the line between deception and truth, artifice and honesty.

Across eleven tracks, the album shapeshifts with each track a different kind of disguise: a love song thats really a surrender, a slow dance with death that ends in communion, a joke that lands like a prayer.

Convenience Store will be launching their debut album 'Tabis' at Bergy Bandroom on September 19, with support from Hamish Bloom & Obe Bramall-White, and Spenser.
