The Sunshine Coast and Northwest QLD collide for one deadly night of storytelling, dance and dreaming! The Sunshine Coast and Northwest Queensland come together for an evening of storytelling, dance, and cultural exchange.
MUFASSA and the
DMC Boys have connected over the past 5 years through the Deadly Sounds and Dreamtime Music Projects, a program facilitated by Dale aka MUFASSA in the remote Aboriginal community of Doomadgee, 1000kms west of Cairns. Together with the Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council and Arts Queensland, they are set to bring you a unique collaborative show and experience in the heart of Nambour.
Over the past 2 years in Doomadgee, the
DMC Boys band have been writing and recording their debut album Yugurlda People. The songs are Dreamtime Stories of the many totem animals and spirits from across the Gulf, including Pelican, Bugajinda Hawk, Kangaroo, Dingo and are sung in both Gangalidda and English. Cowritten and recorded with MUFASSA in the Doomadgee Youth Hub Music Studio, the album is now being produced by Brian Goodworth (Big Rock Studio) on the Sunshine Coast.
The
DMC Boys will open the night sharing songs from their upcoming Yugurlda People album, plus a few newbys.
MUFASSA and his band
The Summer Haze will finish this special night off with their 6-piece
Hazy-Dub-Reggae vibes, sure to keep you dancing! This show is 5 years in the making, we hope you enjoy our music and stories.
