Friday 10th October sees The Sooki Lounge, located in the hills of Belgrave, host Dub Side Down, Melbournes newest Roots Reggae and Bass night, from 9pm to 3am. Bringing a blend of Mystic Jamaican Roots from the 1970s to the 2000s merging with UK Dub / Jungle / DnB / Breaks and Dubstep.

The nights journey will take us from Subterranean Roots, to the depths of Outer Bass!
Heading the DJ lineup is PBS 106.7FMs Rick Howe, host of the long running Riddim Yard radio show, that airs every Friday, from 11am to 1pm always kicking off the weekend in fine style. Ricks musical focus is on showcasing the best and rarest Jamaican Roots from the foundation years of the early 1970s all the way up to the current releases of today. Rick also hosts the popular outdoor Reggae event, held at Section 8 in the heart of Melbourne, during the warmer months, and is a consistent favourite at the Jamaican Music and Food Festival held annually at Seaworks, in Williamstown. Ricks musical discernment has earned him a reputation that has seen him establish himself as one of Melbournes premier Reggae DJs, not just for his work on the radio, but across the wider Melbourne scene, dropping killer tunes at parties for much of the last 2 decades.
Alongside Rick, is Dj-Ital Magnus, originally hailing from London, UK, but who now calls Melbourne home, having brought his extensive record collection with him. Magnus began Djing electronic music at house and warehouse parties as well as festivals, including Glastonbury, in the 90s and was resident DJ at Escape from Samsara, in London. Since relocating to Australia, Magnus gained his reputation as a Dub selector, playing on Melbournes first heavyweight Reggae soundsystem, Heartical Hi-Power in the 2010s, then hosting the PBS FM radio show, Break the Chain, forerunner to Riddim Yard. Having been a long time lover and collector of Jamaican Roots Reggae since the 80s Magnus draws from one of the deepest collections of Reggae vinyl in Australia and then takes it to the next level with a killa selection of Bass styles including UK Rave, Jungle, Breakbeat, DnB, and Dubstep, with the occasional self produced electronic Dub tune finding its way into the mix.
DJ Bakkamoona originally from Sri Lanka, now resident in Melbourne and familiar face in the hills music scene, is another vinyl obsessed DJ, with an extensive collection spanning a wide range of electronic styles, from which hell be bringing a fine selection of Roots, Dub and Dubstep to the mix. Bakkamoona, along with Ital Magnus, is one of the regular DJs at the local Dubfest parties, held at the Fat Goat in Upwey for the last several years.
