Released in May this year, the seven-track record marks a bold step forward for Elsie, showcasing her most turbulent and direct songwriting yet. Drawing inspiration from Elena Ferrante, the albums title captures the chaos of human emotion: fury, regret, love, grief and self-doubt.
The Normal Discontents of Living carries forward Elsies fascination with the places that have shaped her: the wide, arid landscapes of her childhood in Mparntwe/Alice Springs and the city life of Naarm/Melbourne, her home for a decade.
Having left Melbourne a little over a year ago, Elsie is back for one night only and joined by a stellar full band Alana Wilson, Cal Newton, Liam Snowy Halliwell, Sam Miles and Bridget Chilver to bring these songs to life where many of them first took shape.
This event takes place on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
