Larry Crestani is a Naarm-based musician renowned for his exceptional guitar work with the iconic Melbourne collective Black Jesus Experience, as well as his collaborations with jazz legend Mulatu Astatke. Also the creative force behind his own project Standing Circle, Larry is now preparing to release a highly anticipated new album with Standing Circle, while also working on solo material set for release soon.
Blending intricate guitar playing, soulful vocals, and dynamic electronic soundscapes, Larry's latest work pushes the boundaries of genre and style. As an innovator, hes also designed a unique instrument, the Kraartara fusion between the guitar and the traditional Ethiopian Kraarthat brings new textures and sonic possibilities to his music.
A true experimenter, Larry's musical journey is ever-evolving, and he is currently preparing a series of solo and duo performances that will showcase his vision and creativity. Presenting a mix of old and new inspirations, his upcoming shows promise to deliver an exciting and immersive experience for listeners.
Larry will be joined by drummer Matt Bush for an intimate show at Bar Open on Thursday September 4th from 6:30-8:30pm.
