Guitarist Nash Lee began his musical journey on the NSW North Coast in the midlate 90s, mentored by rhythmic innovator Greg Sheehan and guitarist Jim Kelly. Early inspiration from Eric dolphy, James blood ulmer, Mahavishnu orchestra and Miles Daviss electric era helped shape Lees distinctive, exploratory guitar voice.
After a long path in original improvised music, Lee has recently turned his focus toward the jazz standard repertoire refining his sound inside the tradition while keeping his adventurous edge.
Critic John Clare (SIMA) wrote that Lees playing gripped me... tightening his lyrical sound until he seemed to meet resistance in the air.
