'Borogodo is a new 7-piece ensemble made up of
Mike Bevan (7-string guitar), Alain Valodze (6-string guitar),
Fabian Hevia (percussion), Karen De Nardi (violin), Gareth Chin (accordion), Gustavo Quintino (double bass) with guest Andy Bevan (saxophone/flute).
Borogodo is a Brazilian expression meaning charm, groove, allure or an irresistible vibe or presence.
Look forward to an engaging performance of eclectic music by some of Adelaides best and most versatile.
Mike Bevan, guitar
Mike Bevan is an experienced musician, playing his 7-stringed guitar across a wide range of styles. Mike specializes in jazz and Brazilian guitar music. He has performed nationally and internationally including tours in Japan and performances in Brazil. Mike has performed at WOMAD, Adelaide International Guitar Festival the Elder Hall concert series and many other festivals and clubs in Australia.
Mike and Andy Bevan
Mike and Andy Bevan have been playing music together all their
adult lives, despite living on opposite sides of the globe.
Andy, based in Tokyo, plays saxes and flutes, while Mike, from Adelaide,
plays 7-string guitar. Their sophisticated synergy embraces original
compositions and unique arrangements of Brazilian and jazz music
that are exciting and intricate, as well as delicate and romantic.

Alain Valodze, acoustic guitar
An expressive acoustic guitarist, who explores the fusion of Flamenco, Brazilian, Ethnic, Folk, Sacred New Age guitar music within World, Jazz and Improvised music.
Music of haunting beauty and buoyant rhythm.
Karen de Nardi, violin
Karen is an accomplished performer, composer and arranger. Her experience as a freelance artist spans classical, folk, pop and jazz. She has performed as violinist and violist at WOMADelaide, Europafest, Adelaide Guitar Festival and the Adelaide Fringe.
Gareth Chin, accordion
is a live session and studio recording artist, who has performed in more than 150 different bands and ensembles in Australia.He has played in classical, jazz, folk, tango, and choro/samba groups for the last 25 years, and also written and performed music for international touring theatre companies and ensembles.In Australia, he has worked as a pianist and accordionist with Slingsby Theatre, StateOpera SA, The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Zephyr Quartet, Circa Contemporary Circus, Brink Theatre, State Theatre Company, and cabaret stars Robyn Archer and Anya Anastasia.
Fabio Hevia, percussion, jazz, Cuban, Brazilian
Fabian Hevia is one of Australias most respected percussionists. A master of many styles including jazz, Cuban and Brazilian music, he has toured widely and is first call for many Australian artists.

Gustavo Quintino, double bass/electric bass/cello
Gustavo is a double bassist from Brazil, currently residing in Australia, studying his masters at The Elder Conservatorium of Music. He has previously studied at Escola Municipal De Musica in Sao Paulo and has also studied at The Royal Academy Of Music in London. He is currently working with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra on contract/casual basis and is teaching at the St Francis de Sales college. He has also played in professional orchestras in Brazil and overseas such as OSESP (State of Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra).
