JUST ADD WATER is an ode to the H2O dvd collecting dust in your parents garage. Cleo, Emma and (especially) Rikki, awoke many an 8 year old to their first girl crush, or maybe, just their desire to be a secret mermaid. looks like Mako Islands magical moonlit waters will be working their magic this upcoming HYP3DD...
were leaning into the frutiger areo of it all, that glossy, shiny, Y2K futuristic optimism - were creating a beachy summer paradise to party in your microkinis, swimmers, board shorts, sun dresses, blues, greens, pinks and all round tropical realness. lets splash out!
100% of HYP3DD'S profits will be split to different mutual aid funds. This time we will be supporting Ashley, a trans woman from Uganda who is a leader for over 400 LGBTQIA refugees in a dedicated camp in South Sudan where unfortunately being gay is illegal and persecuted by the government.
Uganda outlaws most LGBTQIA human rights and it forced Ashley to flee to Kenya in 2019, barely escaping with her life. The Kakuma Refugee camp in Kenya, however, did not keep her safe, she says that for almost five years, she lived in constant danger, facing beatings, threats and constant persecution. The violence never stopped.
In 2024, Ashley made the very difficult decision to leave Kakuma Refugee camp and flee to Camp X (name changed for safety) in South Sudan which now houses Ashley, her partner and over 400 other queer refugees who have fled their own countries escaping similar horrors.
Recently, Ashley took an interview with the BBC about being a trans community leader in the face of persecution, and has now been threatened with her life by the South Sudanese Government and her safety is at great risk. As her community relies on her for their health and safety needs, they need to raise funds to flee their current camp and get to a safer area.
Right now, the reality that Ashley and her community face is dire. South Sudan is amidst a civil war, being queer is illegal, the country is experiencing the worst famine crisis in modern history right now, they are regular targets of sexual and physical violence, without regular access to healthcare, they live in fear every day.
The money raised from ticket and art sales at HYP3DD will be used to provide the camp with food, clean water, medicine and safe shelter.
Aside from this Mutual Aid program, our strip segment raises money for the Sex Workers Outreach Project NSW using the custom HYP3DD tipping dollars which can be purchased on the night of the event, or online as a ticket package.
SWOP is Australia's longest established community based peer education sex worker organisation with a mission to provide all NSW sex workers equal access to health, safety, human rights and workplace protection as any other australian worker. SWOP provides a range of support services for sex workers around NSW via peer-based outreach.
$1 per ticket will also be going to Pay the Rent. pay the rent is a grassroots initiative made up of 2 groups - the sovereign body Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and the ally body - the sovereign bodys job is to decide where rent funds go amongst Mob, which changes regularly, and the ally body deals with rent payers and the colonial state in admin.
the raffle funds are split between all three. Please give generously
