Eora/Sydney-based artist and fashion designer Annie Hamilton possesses a singular ability to capture the beating heart of an emotion and refract it through her own vivid musical prism, harnessing visceral, shimmering textures and wild, kinetic energy. Driven by an unquenchable desire for risk-taking, her constantly-shifting sound enters a new era, melting down the building blocks of indie-rock and alt-pop, fusing them with unexpected electronic and ethereal elements to create a signature sound that exists beyond the boundaries of genre and expectation.
Cooee began serendipitously, after Kirli and Mark met performing with Jack River for triple js Like a Version in late 2023. That same week, Kirli released her poetry collection, Returning (Magabala) a book that would linger with Mark and form the lyrical foundation of their early songwriting sessions. A handful of Kirlis poems were soon set to Marks pre-existing musical sketches, marking the start of Cooee.
