Joseph Tawadros AM is an eight-time ARIA winner and internationally renowned oud virtuoso and composer, performing all original music.
Touring regularly to jazz and world music festivals of Europe and Australia, collaborating with artists including Bela Fleck and Lior, Richard Tognetti and the ACO and jazz greats John Abercrombie and Christian McBride, Josephs music crosses western and middle-eastern classical, jazz and folk genres.
He has performed his own works with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Western Australian Symphony, Adelaide Symphony, Ukraine National Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, the Morphing Chamber Orchestra. His ground-breaking Concerto for Oud & Orchestra was performed with the Sydney Symphony and recorded and released by ABC Classics in 2019.
In this extraordinary concert Joseph brings his Trio to the Town Tent with his phenomenal brother James Tawadros on riq (Egyptian percussion) and outstanding jazz pianist Matt McMahon performing works from Tawadros ARIA award-winning albums. Josephs Middle Eastern flavoured compositions constantly push the boundaries of melody and metre and are a rare combination of highly emotional music intertwined with boundless energy.
