Director Simon West brings the iconic video game heroine to life in this globe-trotting 2001 adventure that established the template for game adaptations. Jolie embodies Lara Croft with athleticism, wit, and unmistakable screen presence, performing many of her own stunts and making the character's blend of intellect and action prowess utterly convincing. The film delivers spectacular set piecesfrom a bungee ballet with attacking robots to Lara fighting stone monkeys in a Cambodian templewhile production designer Kirk M. Petruccelli creates exotic locations filled with mechanical wonders and ancient secrets. The supporting cast includes Iain Glen as her rival, Daniel Craig as her tech expert, and real-life father Jon Voight in poignant scenes as Lord Croft.
