During times of world stress, such as the Depression and WWII, composers and lyricists made a huge contribution to elevating peoples spirits.Everyone listened to the radio and songs of hope and optimism were whistled and sung around the home and workplaces. Those songs often remained significant to people for the rest of their ifetimes. Late Night Radio will perform a selection of these songs with a little background of their writers and what was happening in the world when they were popular.
