ABOUT THE BAND:

Emerging Gadigal - based psychedelic four piece Lemonise present cosmically enchanting riffs and percussive rhythms  that enter audiences into a deep groove. Theres something for everyone at a Lemonise show whether that be high-energy funk-based riffage from guitarist Maya Riv and bassist Gene Griffin, Earthy didgeridoo/Yidaki drones played by First Nations songwriter and vocalist Jake Magi, entrancing rhythms played by drummer Morgan Monk, or heartfelt words about creating music in bucolic bliss the band take their audience with them on a sonic journey through the wild NSW South Coast, a place of inspiration for the band and birthplace of their song.

Dreamed up by four young university students wanting to provide a musical escape to the people of the city, Lemonise is not only a passion project but the freshest name in the Sydney band scene, having supported industry legends such as Pacific Avenue and Mahalia Barnes. The band has taken the underground Australian live music scene by storm, featuring at Yours and Owls 2025 and selling out their single launch at the Trocadero Room in February 2025.

The band formed on a fateful day by coincidence at a small jam session in an Enmore Road thrift store, where guitarist Maya and vocalist Jake improvised a set together and havent stopped playing since. Bassist Gene and drummer Morgan came later, and suddenly the band found themselves creating more than ever before and playing in live music venues around Sydney multiple times a week. The band spent two weeks in an isolated cabin on the South Coast writing and recording in a DIY setup in 2024, and have begun to release their creations in 2025.

Lemonise begun with a playful, surfy single Plastic Fantastic, in February 2025 amassing Spotify editorial playlisting (Original Storytellers, Big Ancestor Energy) and community radio play. Next comes The Universe, a larger-than-life, Pink Floyd-style psychedelic jam, garnering triple j rotation for NAIDOC week in July 2025. Join Lemonise for their celebratory release of their debut EP at Crescent Head Tavern this October.

Lemonise invites their live audience to feel small in a vast world and lose themselves in an elemental groove.
