Following her critically acclaimed singles "Solid and Human and "Spanish Moss" which gained airplay from Triple J, 2ser, FBi and a multitude of community radio stations nation-wide, The New reveals a grittier side of Maia's songwriting; doubled acoustics, grunged soaked tones and explosive chorus that speak to themes of growing pains, awareness and the ache of letting go.
Known for her raw, arresting voice and unflinching songwriting, Maia has a rich history of musical collaboration within the Sydney Music Scene; currently one half of Alt-Country duo The Darling Hearts, resident lead-guitarist for Georgia Mulligan & Ainsley Farrell, former front-woman of indie-rock trio and bassist of dream-pop band Goodside.
Outside of music and songwriting, Maia is a visual artist, painting and designing all her own cover art and merchandise.
A magnetic live performer who can bring any room to a standstill, Maia Jelavic has built a solid and devoted underground following and has supported the likes of Phantastic Ferniture (Julia Jacklin), Annie Hamilton, Maple Glider & Cousin Tony's Brand New Firebird.
Maia will be joined by her six-piece band at Low302 on October 24th to celebrate the release of The New and showcase her upcoming debut album.
