MILK BAR GANG CACTUS ROOM SINGLE LAUNCH WRITE UP
In a world saturated with predictability Melbournes avant garde art pop visionaries are
a refreshing plunge into the unknown (Heatwaves Magazine).
Yes its true! And what is also true is Milk Bar Gang are bringing their unhinged
dystopian Lynchian delirium to the Cactus Room at 2pm Sunday 30th November to
celebrate the release of their latest single Wo AI Ni, a New Wave inspired ode to
fembot love.
The Wo AI Ni is the first product of Milk Bar Gangs 2025 flourish of creativity since the
release of their EP Shudder earlier in the year. During this time the band have been
writing, rehearsing and recording preproduction demos for a new Album to come out
next year. The band will be playing tracks from their first two EPs plus some newly
minted ones that will feature on the next album. Be ready for some exciting musical
experimentation inspired by post-punk icons B52s, DEVO, Lene Lovich and Siouxie and
the Banshees.
Captivating Beijing Ballet dancer Bianca Cao will front a full band featuring keyboard
wizard Felix Chapple (Frente, Phoenix/Weneger), Grant Bueno on drums (Beach
Chromers), with Stuart Griggs thumping Bass and Brendan Hunters unhinged guitar.
Special guests for the afternoon are Entwined and Twobuxx.
Entwined are a local Jazztronica duo featuring multi instrumentalist Loff Kahans (The
Maelstrom, Sunshine Harvester) and ethereal vocalist Fi Mackay. They recently
released a superb EP Here Goes full of dreamy compelling musical experimentation
Think Massive Attack, Portishead.
Twobuxx are a local Naarm post punk trio with fuzzy tones and tight story telling songs,
told with humour and punch. A modern cocktail of Buzzcocks, Go Betweens and
Modern Lovers. Catch them to hear songs from their latest Album, Various Behaviours
of Chaos Entities live.
It will be an afternoon bursting in Naarm/Melbourne musical originality. Not to be
missed!
