Lee began his musical journey in the mid/ late 90s on the NSW North Coast, mentored by rhythm visionary Greg Sheehan and guitarist Jim Kelly. During that period, he drew deep inspiration from the vibrant local scene including musicians such as the late Dave Addes, Thierry Fosmale, Scott Tinkler, and Elliot Dalgliesh as well as from the electric-era recordings of Miles Davis
Having spent most of his career in original improvised music, Lee has more recently turned his focus toward the jazz standard repertoire refining his voice within the tradition while maintaining an adventurous, exploratory edge.
Lees playing gripped me... tightening his lyrical sound until he seemed to meet resistance in the air.
