Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!

This week Birdsnake, Milou Moon and 40th Parallel are stopping by for a show.

Synth ambassadors & beat makers, Birdsnake, are cooking their own brand of psychedelic infused downtempo electronica. The four piece create transportive textural moments,  always trusting the groove and exploring the line between electronic and organic.

Milou Moon is the dream-psych project of French-American artist Emily McGill, born in Chicago and based in Naarm/Melbourne since 2017. Blending lush psych-rock textures with bilingual lyricism, Milou Moons sophomore EP Reverie drifts between English and French to explore McGills bicultural experience; a terrain of belonging and displacement, grounding and wanderlust, and the beauty of holding contradictions in harmony. Mastered by Joe Carra (King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, POND), Reverie refines Milou Moons ethereal sound with expansive synthscapes, magnetic vocal hooks, and a hint of French mysticism. McGill is now at work on Milou Moons debut full-length album alongside Leigh Fisher (DOPE LEMON, Angus & Julia Stone) and Simon Mavin (Hiatus Kaiyote). On stage, Milou Moon is a five-piece: McGill on vocals/guitar, Jevaan Waldron (bass), Lachie Smith (synth/keys), Sam ONeil (synth/guitar), and George de Silva (drums). Their deep friendships charge the performance with warmth, chemistry, and a contagious joy, making every live show an invitation into Milou Moons dreamy, electric world.

Experimental-rock collective 40th Parallel was formed in Albany/Kinjarling, WA. Their imaginative sound blends honest, vulnerable lyricism with experimental saxophone and post-rock derived guitar work - landing somewhere between shoegaze, jazz and electronica. Since crossing the Nullarbor in 2024, the band have naturally found their feet in Naarms music scene - balancing local shows with time spent self-recording their debut record.

Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.

Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
