Content Source: OztixBeloved San Francisco songwriter Sonny Smith returns to Australian shores this October with his cult garage-pop/folk-rock outfit Sonny & The Sunsets this time backed by an all-star Aussie lineup featuring Steph Hughes (Dick Diver, Boomgates), Shaun Gionis (The Green Child, Boomgates) and Mark Monnone (The Lucksmiths, Monnone Alone). Think jangly riffs, melodic warmth and plenty of character - the band will play a one-off show of guitars, twang and charm in Balnarring, at the Social Club Balnarring on Sunday 5th October.
Across more than a dozen albums, Sonny & The Sunsets have built a world all their own one of sun-faded boardwalks, late-night diners, lonesome motel rooms and backstreet parties. The bands sound blends 60s pop, garage rock, country soul, doo-wop and lo-fi folk, woven together by Sonnys unmistakable voice and gently surreal storytelling.
