Stirr are a post-punk outfit from Sydney threading sharp edges through soft shadows. Their sound drifts between shoegaze haze, angular punk energy, and unexpected textures like the breath of a saxophone through the noise. Their latest single Speedracer surges ahead with quiet confidence and deliberate urgency.
Stirr open a gig billed as all-shoegaze but while there are many excellent squalls of guitar, Stirr add more than that to the mix, with more gentle and cleaner tones, and even a saxophone complimenting the expected moments of more tempestuous sound. Theres a quiet confidence, even in the really, really loud bits.
